The new Kharegaon Creek Bridge on the Mumbai–Nashik Highway is now open for traffic. The opening brings major relief to one of the busiest road stretches connecting Thane, Bhiwandi, Kalwa, Mumbra, Kalyan, Nashik and the Samruddhi Mahamarg side.
The 825-metre bridge forms part of the larger Majiwada–Vadpe road widening project. This project is one of the key infrastructure upgrades shaping the Thane–Bhiwandi–Nashik corridor.
For daily commuters, highway users and logistics movement, this is an important update. The older Kharegaon Creek Bridge had become a major pressure point over the years. Traffic from both directions was moving through limited road capacity. The new bridge now gives the creek-crossing section more road width and improves movement on a route that has seen heavy congestion for a long time.
A Major Relief Point On The Mumbai–Nashik Highway
The Mumbai–Nashik Highway is one of Thane’s most important road corridors.
It carries daily office traffic, local residential movement, heavy vehicles, logistics traffic and long-distance passenger traffic. The stretch around Majiwada, Saket, Kharegaon, Bhiwandi and Vadpe has remained under pressure for years. Widening work, heavy vehicle movement, junction congestion and limited bridge capacity have all added to the problem.
The new Kharegaon Creek Bridge addresses one of the most important bottlenecks on this route. As the remaining road works move towards completion, the corridor is entering a better phase of traffic movement.
For regular commuters, the biggest visible benefit will be lower waiting time at one of the key creek-crossing points. The route no longer depends as much on the older bridge’s capacity. The new bridge adds lanes and improves flow towards Bhiwandi, Nashik and the Samruddhi Mahamarg side.
The exact time saving will vary depending on peak-hour traffic, heavy vehicle movement and pending road works. Still, anyone who follows this belt closely can see that movement on the ground is improving.
For Thane, this is not just a bridge opening. It is part of a larger mobility upgrade on a corridor that connects the city to Bhiwandi, Nashik, Kalyan-Dombivli and the Samruddhi Mahamarg side.
Saket And Kharegaon Bridges Move The Corridor Forward
The Kharegaon Creek Bridge opening should also be seen along with the earlier progress on the Saket Creek Bridge.
Earlier this year, movement near the Majiwada–Saket side improved after the new Saket bridge section came into use. With the new Kharegaon Creek Bridge now open, two important bridge points on the Majiwada–Vadpe corridor have moved forward this year.
Congestion on this route was never linked to one single point. The pressure came from multiple junctions, bridges, narrow sections and heavy-traffic pockets.
As each point improves, the highway becomes stronger as a regional connector. It links Majiwada, Saket, Kharegaon, Bhiwandi, Kalyan-Dombivli, Nashik and the Samruddhi Mahamarg side.
For Thane, this is a clear and positive shift.
Majiwada–Vadpe Widening Is Now More Visible On The Ground
The new Kharegaon Creek Bridge forms part of the Majiwada–Vadpe widening project.
This project directly supports vehicles moving from Thane towards Bhiwandi, Nashik and the Samruddhi Mahamarg side. Once the full widening work is completed, the corridor should support smoother traffic flow and better highway capacity.
For Thane residents, this is important because Majiwada and Saket are already among the city’s busiest junction points. Any improvement beyond Saket towards Kharegaon and Bhiwandi helps strengthen movement towards Kalyan-Dombivli, Nashik and the wider MMR growth belt.
The road has been improving step by step on the ground. Only the remaining completion works and finishing points are left on key stretches. The larger corridor is now moving towards a more usable and efficient phase.
TDLR Becomes Easier To Understand As A Growth Belt
The opening of the new Kharegaon Creek Bridge also strengthens the larger Thane–Dombivli Link Road (TDLR) story.
For buyers and investors looking at the TDLR belt, connectivity from Majiwada, Saket and the Mumbai–Nashik Highway side has always been an important factor. As road movement improves, the TDLR belt becomes easier to understand as a serious future growth micro-market. It is no longer just seen as an outer extension of Thane.
TDLR is now getting linked with multiple movement points. These include Majiwada, Saket, Kharegaon, Bhiwandi, Kalyan-Dombivli, the Mumbai–Nashik Highway and the Samruddhi Mahamarg side.
Every completed bridge, widened road and improved traffic point adds confidence to this belt.
The travel experience from Majiwada towards Nashik Highway and the TDLR side is improving on the ground. For buyers, land investors and long-term investors, this makes a difference. The infrastructure is no longer only on paper. It is now visible on the ground and slowly changing how this belt is viewed.
TDLR is no longer only a future road story. It is slowly becoming one of the next important growth micro-markets to track in Thane.
Majiwada To TDLR Is Becoming A More Serious Growth Belt
The Majiwada–Saket–Kharegaon–TDLR stretch is gaining prominence on Thane’s real estate map.
For many years, buyer attention in Thane stayed around Ghodbunder Road, Pokhran Road, Kolshet and Majiwada. That is now changing slowly. The Mumbai–Nashik Highway widening, Thane Dombivli Link Road (TDLR), Samruddhi Mahamarg connectivity and improved access from Majiwada–Saket are making the eastern side of Thane harder to ignore.
Real estate value does not move only because one bridge opens. But infrastructure improvements change perception over time.
When roads improve, buyers start looking deeper.
When travel becomes more manageable, investors study the belt seriously.
When infrastructure starts connecting, a new micro-market begins to take shape.
That is why the opening of the Kharegaon Creek Bridge matters beyond immediate traffic relief.
Real Estate Relevance For The Thane–TDLR Belt
For the real estate market, the new bridge supports the long-term case for the Thane–TDLR growth belt.
This belt still offers a different entry point compared to the more saturated parts of Thane West. Buyers who find established locations expensive often look at the next connected belt. Visible infrastructure progress gives them more confidence.
TDLR, the Mumbai–Nashik Highway widening, Bhiwandi connectivity and access from Majiwada–Saket all play an important role here.
The corridor is becoming more relevant for long-term real estate movement. It has road connectivity, future residential potential, access towards Kalyan-Dombivli and improved movement from the Thane city side.
For long-term buyers, land investors, villa buyers and early-stage investors, this belt deserves closer attention.
Corridor Movement Is Now Improving In Phases
The new Kharegaon Creek Bridge removes another pressure point from the Mumbai–Nashik Highway corridor.
On the ground, movement on this belt has been improving step by step. Bridge work, widening work and road completion work are all moving forward. With the Saket bridge section already in use and the new Kharegaon Creek Bridge now open, the Majiwada–Vadpe corridor is entering a better phase.
The remaining finishing works, road completion points and traffic management improvements now need to fall into place. Once that happens, the full benefit will become more visible.
For a corridor that has carried heavy traffic for years, this is a strong positive development.
The new Kharegaon Creek Bridge improves a key link on the Mumbai–Nashik Highway. It also strengthens the broader connectivity between Thane, Bhiwandi, Nashik, Samruddhi Mahamarg and the TDLR belt.
For Thane real estate, this is exactly the kind of infrastructure progress that needs to be tracked closely.
