The Thane–Nashik Highway belt has changed character over the last decade. Before 2020, it was largely a warehousing and heavy-movement corridor. As logistics parks moved outward, the same belt began absorbing residential supply at scale—bringing more families, more daily commuting, and a faster-growing local ecosystem.
That transition also created a familiar pressure point: traffic unpredictability.
Widening work, diversions, heavy-vehicle movement, and a rising number of towers made the commute feel uncertain—especially on the Majiwada–Kalwa–Kharegaon and Vadape–Kasheli–Mankoli–Ranjnoli routes. What is changing in 2026 is not demand—it is delivery. Bridge commissioning and 8-lane widening milestones are now moving into their final phases.
Feb–March 2026 Trigger: Bridge Commissioning On The Corridor
New Saket Creek Bridge (Kalwa–Kharegaon Belt): Opening Window Reported
As per the latest reports (13–14 February 2026), the new four-lane Saket Creek Bridge (approx. 200 m) on the Mumbai–Nashik Highway is complete and in the final clearance/traffic-integration stage, with opening expected soon—subject to the official traffic plan and safety clearance.
A directional traffic split is being reported to reduce conflict at the creek crossing:
- Thane → Nashik / Mumbra / Navi Mumbai / Bhiwandi: via the new bridge
- Nashik / Mumbra / Navi Mumbai / Bhiwandi → Thane: via the existing bridge
Kasheli Creek Bridge: Tracked To The March-End Window
The Kasheli Creek Bridge (approx. 820 m) remains a key structure on the Bhiwandi–Mankoli logistics side. Current corridor tracking continues to place its commissioning within the broader end-March 2026 window, subject to finishing works, approach readiness, and approvals.
8-Lane Widening: The Highway Is Being Rebuilt As A Proper Spine
This is not only a bridge story. The larger upgrade is the ongoing expansion of the corridor from four lanes to eight lanes on the Majiwada–Vadape stretch, along with service roads and junction improvements.
As per the latest progress updates being reported, the remaining stretches are being targeted for completion by March-end 2026, in line with the overall deadline for the widening package. This is the capacity upgrade that shifts the corridor from stop-and-go movement to a more stable travel spine.
The Freeway Stack: Mumbai → Anand Nagar (Mulund Edge) → Saket → Thane–Nashik Belt
A second layer is also being built in parallel: the elevated freeway network that reshapes reliability at the Mumbai-to-Thane entry.
1) Elevated Eastern Freeway Extension: Chheda Nagar (Ghatkopar) To Anand Nagar (Mulund–Thane Edge)
The Elevated Eastern Freeway Extension is now an executing project, planned as a high-speed elevated corridor connecting the Eastern Freeway landing side at Chheda Nagar (Ghatkopar) to Anand Nagar at the Mulund–Thane edge.
2) Anand Nagar (Mulund–Thane Edge) To Saket Elevated Corridor (Thane)
From Anand Nagar, the planned elevated corridor continues as the Anand Nagar–Saket Elevated Road (8.24 km, 6 lanes), running over Thane’s congested junctions and landing at Saket (Thane West).
In practical terms, the intended movement chain is straightforward:
South/East Mumbai entry improves → Anand Nagar becomes a stronger gateway → Saket becomes the elevated landing → Saket connects into the upgraded Thane–Nashik Highway belt.
Samruddhi Connectivity: Aamne To Saket
Samruddhi Mahamarg’s Mumbai end currently terminates at Aamne in Thane district. That is why a direct elevated connection between the Samruddhi terminus side and Saket keeps coming up in public reporting and corridor discussions—because it would reduce a major last-mile slowdown for Mumbai/Thane-bound movement once implemented.
(As with all major links, timelines and phasing depend on approvals, execution packages, and on-ground integration.)
Retail, Hospitality, And Commercial Activity Are Also Rising In This Belt
This belt is no longer only “warehousing + housing.” It is adding more layers:
- Destination Retail: Bhumi World’s outlet mall in Bhiwandi is reported to open around mid-March 2026, adding jobs, services, and footfall.
- Hospitality: The Fern Residency, Bhiwandi-Pimplas (Series by Marriott) is already operational, indicating growing business travel and organised demand.
- Commercial / Business Ecosystem: As connectivity improves, more commercial buildings, office formats, and mixed-use development activity typically follow across key junction nodes—strengthening rental stability and weekday demand.
The Growth Pattern This Corridor Typically Shows First
When a corridor becomes predictable, early shifts usually appear before any pricing narrative:
- rentals stabilise faster in commute-driven pockets
- site visits convert better as travel becomes easier to plan
- premium and upgrade buyers move sooner when daily access feels comfortable
That is the setup Thane’s Majiwada → Ranjnoli belt is moving toward in 2026.
