The National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) — the apex body for India’s real-estate sector established under the aegis of the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India — has confirmed its new leadership for the current term.

According to the Council’s officially disclosed leadership structure, Dr Niranjan Hiranandani has been appointed Chairman, while Mr Parveen Jain has taken charge as President. Both leaders bring decades of industry experience, policy engagement and institutional expertise to NAREDCO’s national platform.

Established in 1998, NAREDCO plays a pivotal role in facilitating dialogue among the Government, developers, financial institutions and stakeholders across India’s housing and infrastructure ecosystem. With the new leadership in place, the Council continues its mandate of strengthening transparency, regulatory alignment and sustainable sectoral growth.

What This Leadership Transition Represents

Strengthened Industry–Government Alignment

Since NAREDCO operates under the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, it serves as one of the primary institutional forums for representing industry perspectives on housing policy, land regulation, approvals and urban development. Leadership with a deep understanding of regulatory frameworks reinforces this engagement.

Continued Institutional Focus on Policy Standardisation

NAREDCO contributes to national discussions related to:

  • RERA implementation consistency
  • Environmental and planning compliance
  • Approval and development control systems
  • Affordable and rental housing frameworks
  • Infrastructure–housing integration

Experienced governance helps maintain clarity and uniformity across states and urban regions.

Sector-Wide Push for Transparency and Accountability

The Council has consistently supported efforts aimed at strengthening financial discipline, project delivery standards and transparent disclosures — all critical components in a post-RERA environment.

What Home-Buyers and Investors Should Watch in the Sector

As a national body representing developers and stakeholders, NAREDCO’s areas of engagement influence broader real-estate trends. Key themes to monitor include:

Regulatory Improvements and Approvals Modernisation

NAREDCO has historically encouraged simplified, technology-enabled approval systems. Any progress in these areas can contribute to more predictable construction timelines.

Strengthening of RERA-Driven Consumer Protection

The Council participates in discussions focused on enhancing disclosures, financial safeguards and developer accountability — core elements of the RERA framework that help build buyer confidence.

Housing Policy Evolution

Ongoing dialogue around affordable housing incentives, mid-income housing, rental housing models and tax considerations remains central to long-term demand stability. NAREDCO contributes to these deliberations at the national level.

Sustainability and Responsible Urban Development

Environmental clearances, green building norms, water management and energy efficiency are increasingly mandated in national urban policy — and NAREDCO plays an active role in these areas.

Digitisation, Transparency and Better Documentation

The sector continues transitioning toward digital approvals, structured consumer documentation and monitored project execution. These measures support a more transparent and trust-driven environment for homebuyers and investors.

Editorial Perspective

This leadership transition brings renewed clarity and stability to one of the real-estate sector’s most influential institutions. With the Council founded under the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, the combination of governance experience and industry insight places NAREDCO in a strong position to drive meaningful engagement across housing, sustainability, regulation and sectoral discipline.

As India’s real-estate landscape evolves through major infrastructure expansion, RERA maturity and shifting consumer expectations, NAREDCO’s national leadership will continue to shape policy development and stakeholder adaptation across the country.

Thane Real Estate News (TREN) will continue monitoring these policy developments and their sector-wide implications.
