In a significant development today, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited Thane to review and flag off the first trial runs of the metro corridors. This marks a historic moment for the city’s infrastructure push, bringing residents one step closer to faster, smoother, and more reliable connectivity.
Metro Corridors Under Trial
The current phase of trials covers:
- Metro 4 (Wadala–Kasarvadavali) and
- Metro 4A (Kasarvadavali–Gaimukh).
Trial runs are being conducted across 10 stations to test systems, safety measures, and passenger facilities before full-scale operations begin.
A Vision for a Connected Thane
Speaking during the event, CM Fadnavis underlined that metro connectivity is not just about easing road congestion—it’s a catalyst for Thane’s economic and social growth. Once operational, these corridors will:
- Cut travel times drastically between Thane and Mumbai’s business hubs.
- Reduce private vehicle dependence, lowering congestion and pollution.
- Position Thane as an independent growth hub within MMR.
What It Means for Citizens & Real Estate
For commuters, today’s trial run is a sign that relief from traffic snarls is finally near. For real estate, metro infrastructure is a game-changer. Localities such as Kavesar, Kasarvadavali, Gaimukh, and the wider Ghodbunder Road belt are set to benefit the most, with rising end-user demand and potential property appreciation.
The Road Ahead
The metro trial runs will continue for the coming weeks before safety certifications and commercial launch. With corridors like Metro 5 and Metro 10 also in the pipeline, Thane is steadily weaving itself into the larger MMR metro web.
Today’s event confirms one thing: Thane’s metro is no longer a distant promise—it has arrived on the tracks.
