Thane, August 25, 2025 – A major milestone has been achieved for Thane’s Green Line Metro (Line 4/4A). In a late-night operation at Anand Nagar, the first two metro coaches were successfully lifted and placed on the elevated viaduct, marking the beginning of trial run preparations.

According to MMRDA officials, the trial runs are scheduled to start in September 2025, beginning with the 10.5 km stretch between Gaimukh and Cadbury Junction. This section is expected to be opened to passengers by early 2026, with further extensions targeted later in the year.

Deputy CM and MMRDA Chairperson Eknath Shinde confirmed that the project is moving ahead on schedule, with the goal of providing seamless metro connectivity for Thane and central Mumbai.

This development comes as a relief for Thane commuters who face daily congestion, with the Green Line set to play a crucial role in reshaping urban travel across the city.
